
About the Role
AEMTs provide advanced life support (ALS) under the direction of a paramedic, including intravenous therapy, advanced airway management, and medication administration. AEMTs play a critical role in patient assessment and stabilization.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid AEMT certification (state and/or national)
Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 150 pounds
Proficient in ALS protocols including IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and medication administration
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year(s) of experience as an EMT or AEMT
Additional certifications such as ITLS or PEPP
Experience in both rural and urban EMS settings
Responsibilities
Provide ALS care including IV therapy, advanced airway management, and medication administration
Assist paramedics in patient assessment and care planning
Operate and maintain ALS equipment including defibrillators and monitors
Accurately document all patient care activities including interventions and outcomes
Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives
